Fri. Feb. 21st - Hook 'em horns!

On Wednesday, Carly and I had the pleasure of traveling to The University of Texas at Austin as the school's chapters of Alpha Epsilon Phi National Sorority and Sigma Chi Fraternity presented The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation with money they raised to fight childhood cancer.

Without even hosting an event, Alpha Epsilon Phi raised over $55,000 for B+'s fight against #ChildhoodCancer - all on their own! They took the cause to heart, reached out to friends and family and raised awareness and funds to help us get closer to a world without childhood cancer. Texas Sigma Chi hosted Sigma Chi Fight Night and from that, donated $10,000 to B+ for our fight.

Two special guests joined us for the check presentation. Congressman Michael McCaul joined us, as he is the co-chair and founder of the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus. Congressman McCaul is a great advocate for our kids.

B+ Hero Taylor Helland's Dad also joined us. He drove from Arlington, Texas to be a part of this special day. If you'll recall, The B+ Foundation provided Taylor's doctor with the remaining funds needed for the first ever pediatric colon cancer trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Thank you to the Austin American-Statesman, The Daily Texan and myFOXaustin for their coverage.  And thank you SO much to the ladies of AEPhi and the gentlemen of Sigma Chi!

Good Luck THON!

The mothership of all dance marathons begins in a few hours with "THON" at Penn State.  Last year, THON raised $12.4 million dollars to fight childhood cancer.  Good luck to everyone in State College and best wishes especially to Erika Stroh, Becca Boova, and Tim Reid who are Nittany Lions from Delaware who will be dancing this weekend wearing a special shirt honoring their friend, Andrew McDonough.  As you know, this should be Andrew's senior year in college

2014 Childhood Cancer Action Days Announced

SAVE THE DATE!
CHILDHOOD CANCER ACTION DAYS
WASHINGTON, D.C.
JUNE 23-24, 2014

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, a member of the Alliance for Childhood Cancer, is pleased to announce that this year's Childhood Cancer Action Days in Washington, DC are scheduled for June 23-24, 2014.

More than 140 advocates participated in Childhood Cancer Action Days last year with 145 pre-scheduled meetings with legislators and staff. As a result of the advocates' efforts, new cosponsors were added to each legislative bill impacting childhood cancer and 17 new House Representatives joined the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus.

Once again, organizational members of the Alliance for Childhood Cancer will host a two-day event that includes issues and advocacy training, and pre-arranged Capitol Hill visits with Congressional Representatives and their staff. The Alliance goal is to provide the childhood cancer community - parents, children, and others with the opportunity to visit their Representatives on Capitol Hill and advocate for the important childhood cancer issues currently before Congress.

SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE

  • Tuesday, June 24, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm: Kick-off and Hill visits

The Alliance will provide buses to and from Capitol Hill on the 24th for Congressional Visits.
